How long did you wait to have smear test after first baby?

I am 23,i had my son last year he is now 13 months old and i have yet to have a smear test, i delivered him by emergency c section due to problems, i know they say to have one 3 months after a normal delivery does this also apply to intervened delivery's, i have been putting it off purely because im petrified of having the procedure done, but i know i need to so i am making an appointment for next week,me and my husband are trying to concieve number 2 so im hopingiv the courage to have it done before i become pregnant, but my question is how long did ladies wait after a section or normal delivery before having a smear test after first baby? does the average age of 25 to start having tests even apply?
