Changing handedness-->impaired cognition?

Well I am right handed, left footed and I bat left handed in baseball, if that means anything. Curious to find out if I could be left-handed/ambidextrous, I started doing things with my left hand, including writing, which I have become pretty good at. So here are my questions: Does anyone know if separate genes control dominant hands, feet, eyes, etc.? Also, I have been feeling pretty strange since I started doing this; I simply dont feel as quick on my feet in responding to various situations and not nearly as articulate as I imagined I was. Needless to say, I have stopped trying to switch, but was wondering if anyone has heard of something like this and whether it is normal?
