What is the easiest way to dig a large hole in the ground, for an underground-shed?

If you have lots of time a shovel will work but a back hoe will work better. You must either pour concrete walls or pour a concrete footing and lay block for the walls. You cannot use wood or drywall or anything else as it will just collapse when you back fill the hole.
