It's 10pm and my 7th grade daughter is still doing homework?

While I agree that this seems to have taken too long, why on earth should the emphasis be on science and math, instead of on literature and social studies? Both are equally important in life. You absolutely should NOT be working on her homework for her. You say that this is a new school; my guess is that she just hasn't caught on yet. I doubt that the teacher intended her homework to take that long. If it continues, she needs to talk to the teacher and ask what she can do to study more efficiently for that cl.
